I have always been concerned about racism and violence against Asians in the US since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Asian community has experienced everything from physical attacks, verbal harassment, and violence leading to death, as seen in the fatal shootings at Atlanta-based massage parlors in March 2021, many Robberies at Oakland Chinatown and so on. I was furious about the terrifying incidents so I photographed two hate rallies at San Francisco and Mountain View. Then, I start to photograph event related to this topic. My intention is to build a cultural understanding that Among Asian communities tend to remain silent when it comes to the conflict because they don’t want trouble as long as the fire was not in their backyard. I want to improve the awareness of how you fight for you own rights.
